IE normally opens multiple windows, but now it will open only one window for
me. If I try to open a second window, it opens over the first window. I have run spybot and ewido to clean registry. I would appreciate anyone who can help, and I thank you in advance. |

Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts". Also, if you have Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall, Earthlink (or another pop-up blocker) My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc. Yahoo Companion is a very common cause. You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps, uninstall the program (especially uninstall Yahoo Companion). With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow a new window. If you're sure that another program isn't causing this, these links may help. http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/IEFAQ.htm Tips #21 & 46 http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679 http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/ans...htm#hyperlinks http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers.htm#new_window Cheers, -- Vincenzo Di Russo Microsoft® MVP - Most Valuable Professional Windows - Internet Explorer 2003/2004/2005 My home: http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ My Blog: http://blogs.dotnethell.it/vincent/ |

Hi. I recently had the same problem. It turns out that it was an "Add-On"
that was causing the problem. I indeed have the "Yahoo! Toolbar Helper" active. I disabled this and everything seems back to normal. Go to Tools | Manage Add-ons... | Choose Show "Add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer" and look through the list for the offending culprit. Mine was the "Yahoo! Toolbar Helper" Browser Helper Object (yt.dll). Highlight and choose the "Disable" radio button in the Settings area. Click on OK. Restart IE and you should be good to go. I'm back in business.
