I have a bookmark file that I exported to my D drive from my C Drive
some time back. I want now to import it to my favorites in the IE6. When I do it finally it says "not a valid bookmark file". Please guide as to how I could add the file to my Favorite in the IE. Thanking in advance. dkb |

Hi,
Well, I guess the file is not valid... This is what you can do: - export them again - or copy the particular shortcuts (.url files) directly. The Explorere Bookmarks are all contained in the folder Favorites - under the Documents and Setting {User Name} folder ......... Copy the contents ofthat folder (the contents, not the folder itself). Hi,
As I have already said that after exporting the bookmarks to my D-drive I formatted the C-Drive so what to export? Tried to place a copy of the contents of the folder (containing favoriets/bookmarks exported before formatting which is an HTM document) into the favorites folder but with no success. Regards. dkb Hans Le Roy wrote: > Hi, > > Well, I guess the file is not valid... > > This is what you can do: > - export them again > - or copy the particular shortcuts (.url files) directly. > The Explorere Bookmarks are all contained in the folder Favorites - under > the Documents and Setting {User Name} folder ......... > Copy the contents ofthat folder (the contents, not the folder itself). > > Kind regards > > Hans Le Roy > MS MVP Windows/IE > "dkb" <veshno@gmail.com> wrote in message > news:O02kd6GCGHA.736@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > >>I have a bookmark file that I exported to my D drive from my C Drive >>some time back. >>I want now to import it to my favorites in the IE6. Try exporting your current favorites to another file and compare it
with the HTML file you exported in the first place. It could be in the first few lines, as you can see from the response below to the "not a valid bookmark file" error. (Yes, I know you didn't mention emailing the file, but it may be a guide) ------------- "Not a valid bookmark file" error Created by saving an emailed favorites export using File-Save Open the page in Notepad and remove this first line: <!-- saved from url=(0022)http://internet.e-mail --> ------------ ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows - Internet Explorer http://dts-l.org/index.html On Sat, 24 Dec 2005 15:14:19 +0530, dkb <veshno@gmail.com> wrote: >I have a bookmark file that I exported to my D drive from my C Drive >some time back. >I want now to import it to my favorites in the IE6.
