I have been trying to help my mother-in-law with her yahoo mail problem.
Recently, she has been unable to use any of the task buttons when a message is open, such as Reply, Forward, Delete, etc. When we click it, nothing happens. It worked before and I don't know what may have happened to cause this. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can fix it? She also can not get her auto-address function to work when she's typing in the beginning of someone's name. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer! Oatmealstout |

There could be a couple of issues and some more info about her system may
help, but here are a couple of ideas. Yahoo mail uses the Java Language (Not JavaScript) if I understand their system correctly. There have recently been updates to the Sun Java Machine which may have broken the installation on her computer. I just got advised of another update for the Java Machine so maybe a visit to www.java.sun.com may be in order. Even if she has an older system with the Microsoft version of Java installed it would be better to install the Sun one... another link is here if she has no Sun version at all. http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp It is also possible that she has been infected with some Spyware, this is hard to avoid because it always 'Looks" reputable. By all means wait for other opinions, but if neither of these sounds likely then please post back with what operating system she has (98, 98SE,ME,XP or whatever). Also has anything recently happened such as program installations etc. Does she have any firewall, spam control or other security type software? I would recommend you try a spyware scan anyway so here are some links. -- SpyBot Search and Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ Microsoft Antispyware http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Ad Aware http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-...bj=dl&tag=top5 Important - LSP-Fix http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm Be aware that using either of these to actually remove spyware can result in some programs refusing to work, in other words "Free" programs that you downloaded on condition you accepted ads and so called "Research" may get broken and you might want to uninstall them first. Some spyware actually breaks Windows trying to force it's way in and you should arm yourself with LSP-Fix before starting in case you lose internet connectivity. http://www.broomeman.com/spyware/ http://www.nsclean.com/nws-root.html Charlie "oatmealstout" <oatmealstout@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1237A6D2-2DB3-4669-B556-9A32331DCC36@microsoft.com... >I have been trying to help my mother-in-law with her yahoo mail problem. > Recently, she has been unable to use any of the task buttons when a > message > is open, such as Reply, Forward, Delete, etc. When we click it, nothing > happens.
