When I ask for Tools:Windows Update, the page starts to display,
and then MSIE aborts, usually mentioning mshtml and 0xc0000005. I discovered that if I replaced mshtml.dll (which was 6.0.2900.2802) with a prior version (6.0.2900.2769), all works fine ... but that's not a permanent fix because the next "Windows Update" will re-download an MSIE security fix that includes mshtml ...2802 ![]() MSIE version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 Product ID:50293-408-1437634-04168 Update Versions:; SP2; [sic] (and *WHY* isn't that copyable text? ![]() I checked out http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/5.html, but the MS links therein didn't seem applicable. thanks!
