IE6 starts almost instantly and works perfectly online. However, when a
local file is double-clicked, IE takes over half a minute to open. Clicking IE by itself opens it instantly again! But opening a local file from within IE takes that half-minute again! This happens after an online session. If the PC is restarted, opening local files by double-clicking brings IE up instantly again. But if the user goes on line and attempts to open saved pages thereafter, the delay happens again! This stand-alone Windows XP Pro (SP2) PC connects to the Internet on wireless broadband (Verizon EVDO). PC checked for malware, viruses, system inconsistencies, and updated with all MS releases. Apart from the updates, no recent software, or hardware, changes have been made. Regards and thanks for any insight. Avatar |

The problem was resolved with local advice. Reinstalling Java with the
updated runtimes did away with the problem. Thanks for reading my post.
