Internet explorer freezes when trying to download files. This started
happening since I installed XP Service Pack 2. I am using an HP Pavilion 762. Should I try reinstalling IE 6. Never have tried it so don't know what information I need to record before trying it. |

I have a Dell with xp sp2. I don't think it's the computer but xp that is
causing the problem. There are way too many post with download crashes and problems. Has anyone encounted the download stall or crash and fixed it? Any help would be great because not being able to download is a pain. Thanks "MAXL" wrote: > Internet explorer freezes when trying to download files. Tools | Internet Options Click Settings in the Temporary Internet Files section and set it to 50 MB. Then click Clear Files and check the box to delete all offline content. Then try downloading again. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE Please respond in Newsgroup. Do not send email http://www.fjsmjs.com Protect your PC http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/ |

My friend had the same problem.. After several days trying to find the
answer, I finally gave up and installed Opera's new browser and it worked.. Now he can download which he wasn't able to do before. Their new browser is free and no ads.. Okay, that seemed to resolve the problem with downloading. I can now
download files without the computer freezing as long as I click on run or so it seems. When trying to first download, my ipod updater software, I tried "Save Target as", it froze when I clicked C:\\My Downloads\ipodsetup.exe already exists Do you want to replace it?, when I clicked on OK, the computer froze and I had to turn the power off to the computer as there was as I could not get to the start menu nor was I able to get to task manager. I tried it again by downloading a different file on a different web page and saved it without any problems. The only difference I can see is I did not already have a file with that name.
