I am running internet explorer 6 with sp2 on a windows xp machine. i have
recently started using this computer again after being away for some time and to my surprise i am unable to download many attachments from hotmail (jpeg seems fine). I get the error message: Internet Explorer cannot download xxxxx from 64.4.61.250 Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. I have recently installed a linksys wireless network router. Both pc's are experiencing the same problem. I have been trawling through the internet trying to find a solution for the last few hours but it seems many people have experienced this error message over the years, and there seems to be many different solutions, none of which seem to work. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? |

Hi,
Have you bypassed the router to see if it's the problem? Try... Turn on the Windows Firewall (from Control Panel or Security Center) and disable the third-party firewall (if running) and other third-party security, privacy, ad-blocking programs to see if one of them is causing this. Other possibilities- see if there's anything you haven't tried ;-) IE- Can't display- DNS Errors: http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/16.html IE- Download Problems: http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/40.html 870700 - How to troubleshoot problems accessing secure Web pages with IE 6 [XP] SP2: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;870700 (Many, but not all suggestions will be relevant) Hope this helps, Don [MS MVP- IE] "gangadafunkymonkey" <gangadafunkymonkey[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F7A5991A-3DE6-47E6-B05D-35A3E1DA634A@microsoft.com... > I am running internet explorer 6 with sp2 on a windows xp machine. i have > recently started using this computer again after being away for some time and > to my surprise i am unable to download many attachments from hotmail (jpeg > Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site.
