Default No window opened from IE

All of a sudden my Internet Explorer 6 doesn't allow to open any new
windows. Whenever the link has target=_blank or else, the window is not
opened. Also, from the script, window.open( "url" ) doesn't work. I'm
getting "Access is denied" message. Please tell me what has gone wrong with
IE. With other browsers I do not have this problem, so it is not linked with
the system. The system is W2000 SP4. Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately, the fixes that I found in the article "You cannot open a new
Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after you click a link"
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...d=2073&sid=269 did not
fix the problem. This article gives advice to reinstall IE, which I've done
(didn't fix it either), or the system, or repair it.

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".
(http://support.microsoft.com/?id=241911 "Description of the Reuse Windows
for Launching Shortcuts Setting in Internet Explorer 5.01".)

Also, if you have Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall,
Earthlink (or another pop-up blocker) My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc.
Yahoo Companion is a very common cause.

You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps,
uninstall the program (especially uninstall Yahoo Companion).

With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.

If you're sure that another program isn't causing this, these links may
help.

I responded to your posting, but I don't see my response so I write once
more.
Thank you very much for your attention. I found the support article "You
cannot open a new
Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after you click a link"
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...d=2073&sid=269 but it
didn't solve the problem. I'm going to try out your links. Thanks again.

Thanks a lot again because this article "Actions such as search and drag and
drop do not work because the default access permissions have been changed in
the Dcomcnfg.exe tool" under the link
http://support.microsoft.com/support.../q274/6/96.asp in one of
your links did fix the problem.

Yesterday I was trying to set up remote asp debugging on w2000 workstation
as the IIS server from WXP client and I meddled some with Dcomcnfg.
Apparently, I have set some wrong options and I didn't know where to look.
And I still don't know how to debug remotely on w2000 workstation remotely,
and if it is possible at all. Thanks a lot.
