Default IE loses std buttons & text on std menu bar

G'day All,
I have a client with a weird issue in IE6, fully patched on XPP sp2. All
the text on the standard file menu has disappeared, but you can still get to
the selections by clicking in the right spot or rolling along after
clicking. Also the standard button icons have disappeared, despite the bar
still being present. The buttons are still usable, if you can guess which is
which. The next strange bit is that if you go in via windows explorer and
enter a url, all is quite ok. With some sites when they try to go to another
page, it just seems to loop around the starting page and halfway to the
required page.

Any suggestions please?

Andrew

Hi,
Does this still happen if you startup in Safe Mode with Networking? If not,
then you need to figure out which BHO, toolbar or third-party program is
causing it. You could be looking for either malware or a legitimate program.

See these sites for help with malware.

Longshot... but deleting the WebBrowser registry key may help by resetting

A repair/reinstall of IE may help.
