As of this AM, I am unable to paste anything from the clipboard or my Yankee
Clipper III clipboard utility to an OE message. The "paste" function is greyed out. AFAIK, I have made no changes that would cause this. Win98se 324meg ram OE6/IE6 with all updates .. |

The cursor must be in the text portion of the Compose Message window for
paste operations to be effective. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Start by opening the Windows Clipboard Viewer accessory. Does it show
text in the clipboard? If it shows an image or nothing, then OE will be unable to do a paste. Also, have you clicked where you intend to paste, such as in the message body? Also try Ctrl-V (hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the V key) to do the paste. Does that work? -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "bobster" <fauxie@bogus.net> wrote in message news:OQYp6Cv6FHA.660@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... > As of this AM, I am unable to paste anything from the clipboard or my > Yankee > Clipper III clipboard utility to an OE message. Thanks to all for the help.
Here's what happened. First, I made sure that the cursor was in the text portion. Still no paste function was available. Then I tried the CTRL-V approach suggested by Micheal Santovec. Still no joy. I then decided to do a DOS scanreg /restore, going back several days. Still no joy (no harm done, thankfully). In playing around with a blank message window, I typed a gibberish message, then hit "copy" and voila, the paste function un-greyed. Clicking "paste" then pasted the message in the text area. To make sure the function was again working properly, I did several copy/paste operations from various areas and they all worked. Seems like something was "stuck" in the copy/paste sequence and once that cleared, all was back to normal. Not a very technically satisfying result, but since it works, I'm happy. Sounds like your Clipboard was empty, but glad it's now working. Thanks for
the feedback. Yankee Clipper used to have a problem with clearing the clipboard if there were too many items in it although I've not used it in years. It was handy but hard to find the items I wanted to paste in so I've switched to using text file and then the function while composing a message [Insert/Text from File). -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Jim,
Just noted the following on Yankee Clipper's website: "Saves past 200 text and RTF, 20 BMP and Metafile, and 200 URL clipboard entries." I was at or over the limit as I had entries clear back to Nov 2004. That probably caused my problem. BTW, I have been very happy with YCIII - I especially like the "shoot" function. Also am most happy with another little freebie - Gadwin PrintScreen which is just ducky for pulling any part, or all of a current screen -- including jpg/bitmaps -- to YCIII. Thanks again. Thanks for that info. I had forgotten about the limit on Yankee Clipper.
And for capturing screen graphics, I've been using SnagIt for several years and like it although it is not free. Thanks again. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 "bobster" <fauxie@bogus.net> wrote in message news:OERVX006FHA.3232@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... > Jim, > > Just noted the following on Yankee Clipper's website: > > "Saves past 200 text and RTF, 20 BMP and Metafile, and 200 URL clipboard > entries." > > I was at or over the limit as I had entries clear back to Nov 2004.
