I don't know --but I think POP is being used for incoming and SMPT is used
for outgoing? I could be wrong.... Here's a screen capture of the dialog

Thanks for all the help. I'm still at a loss of what to do.

Is this configuration problem I'm having due to Verizon or with Outlook
Express?

Did you:

Uncheck: My server requires authentication, and enter the correct Pop3 and

Have you read any of the links I posted?

Fred:

Check the Advanced Tab in Tools | Accounts and make sure the SSL boxes are
unchecked and the ports are correct.

Check in Tools/Accounts -Mail tab for the account involved and on the Server
tab, at the bottom is a box, My server requires authentication. Check that
and then click the Settings button and make sure it is set to use the login
settings.

Thanks. I just logged tried it... dslstart.verizon.net > my account >

There were no subaccts listed, so I added a new subaccount > completed info

Then the next page never appeared. After waiting a long time, I went back
and saw that the new subaccount had not been added. Also, I saw that 4
other subaccounts that I had not entered were there. Sounds like there is
some kind of problem out of my control here. Once again...... (gritting my
teeth).... I will call Verizon India.

Default Re: Error: Server rejecting sender's e-mail address

I set up a 2nd verizon account and get the following error message when
trying to send email from it. Any ideas how to get it straightened out?

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's
e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'sample@verizon.net'.
Subject 'Email Test', Account: 'sample@verizon.net', Server:
'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.7.1
Authentication is required to send mail as <xts738xg@verizon.net>', Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

(Note that I changed the email addresses in the above, but the error message
is otherwise unchanged.)

Thanks in advance.

Fred

A 550 error indicates you are attempting to send mail using an ISPs SMTP
server, but you are not logged on or authenticated to that account. See
this link for more:
http://www.insideoe.com/problems/errors.htm#550relay

Also I earlier replied to your first posting. Did you not read that?
