Default Auto response

I am using OE and I would like to setup so it will leave and auto response
that says "I'm away for several days and your email will not be answered".
Can I do this or is this a feature that only my ISP can set up?
TIA
Dan

Sure you want to do it? You'll be telling all the spammers that you
email address is valid.

If you do this, you will have to leave your computer on 24/7, be connected
to the internet, and have OE open. If you want do this anyway, the link
below will explain how to do it. One thing I would suggest is that where it
says to create a rule and check For All Messages, you change it and make the
rule for people in your address book only. Otherwise you will be replying to
Spam as well.

Your ISP may offer this service which would be a better choice.

There is a help file in Outlook Express that helps you to find this kind of
stuff.

menu in OE Tools, Message Rules, Mail, New. Look through the options and
do what you want, eg top box Set the conditions for your rule choose For
all mesages. Complete the others as needed, you can create a message to send
too.

Use the webmail interface to your account and look under its options to see
if an auto-responder feature is available (vacation response, out-of-office
response, or whatever they may call it). Otherwise, you will need to leave
your computer powered on, it must not go into Standby or Hibernate mode, you
must leave Outlook Express running so it can run a rule that you have
defined to send a reply. Your computer and Outlook Express make a lousy
mail server substitute, so check if an auto-responder is a feature included
in your account.
