To anyone,
I am running WIN XP, SP2 (Pro), OE 6. When I download messages in a NG, the message count at the bottom gives a negative number count (-372) and no messages can be viewed. In the view pane it states that there are no messages to view a filter may be applied, or words to that affect. I have not seen this odd behavior before. Any ideas on what is happening? This only happens at the top level administrator login. My sub account log in doesn't have this problem. Thanks for any help or suggestions in advance. J |

I just got that exact same thing for the first time ever in a newsgroup
about 5 minutes ago. Strange. SG "HELP" <alias@hiddennow.com> wrote in message news:1v8gf.3452$wf.1755@newsread3.news.atl.earthli nk.net... > To anyone, > > I am running WIN XP, SP2 (Pro), OE 6. Steve,
Checked all settings. Some groups messages show, others give a -# count. Thanks for your reply. Any other ideas? Maybe a registry hack? Activate troubleshooting logging for news. (in Options, Maintenance tab) Reset the newsgroup. (in newsgroup Properties, Local Files) If it happens again you will then have enough information to explain it. Typically it is a combination of a server sending out illogical summary information and OE proving that it can do arithmetic but not think about what its calculations imply. > This > only happens at the top level administrator login.
