Default Admin./User Accounts

Hello
XP Home, SP2, IE6

I am the only person who uses or has access to my computer, and as such have
always worked from the Administrator account - the only one I have set up.
From reading posts in various MS groups I now realize that this is rather
foolish. I set up a User Acct., but don't understand how to export
everything to the User Acct. so I can work from it.
What I am wondering is if I can safely create a second Admin Acct. - #2,
change the original -#1 to a User Acct retaining all files etc. now on #1 to
work from, use #2 when Admin. priveleges are required, and then export any
new additions from #2 to #1.
If I do so, would you recommend that I make a new disc image (Acronis True
Image), or would a regular incremental back up be sufficient?

Thanks

Terry

How do you know that you only have one administrator account?
Start, Run, control userpasswords2
What do you have listed?

This is what I have listed:
User name Group
Administrator Administrators
ASPNET Users
User Administrators

When I log on there is only one acct. - Terry - Administrator - that comes
up.

How many are there if you go to Safe Mode?

Think I may see a bit of light here.
Safe Mode shows two accts. - Administrator and Terry. When I log on
regularly, the account is Terry. Both are the same, with all my programs,
etc. Does this mean that acct. Terry is actually a User account with
administrator privileges, and therefore safe to work in on a normal basis?
If so, thanks for your help - you and Ron - and sorry for wasting your time.
If not, what next?
Thanks

Terry

Yes, that is what it means.
The (system) administrator account is not visible without booting to Safe
Mode.

Thanks again to you both. The way you walked me through it was very
beneficial, made me think, and will likely help me with future
problems/questions.
A very good way of dealing with those of us who need help - teach rather
than saying "do this". I realize it's not always possible, but nice to see
you do it when you can.
