I'm using OE6.00.2900.2180 on and XPSP2 machine. I send messages in
OE, and they stay in the outbox, but the recipient always gets the message. The default send option is plain text. It's on a network but other users aren't having the problem. I deleted the outbox.dbx and sent.dbx, but the problem persists. Any ideas? |

Was OE closed when you deleted the dbx files? If not, close OE and do it
again. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Bura" <buradori@msn.com> wrote in message news:1132346056.230968.184270@f14g2000cwb.googlegr oups.com... > I'm using OE6.00.2900.2180 on and XPSP2 machine. Yes, it was closed.

You may have a damaged identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create
a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages from the old identity and delete it. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "B" <buradori@msn.com> wrote in message news:QHFff.3267$KP5.451297@news20.bellglobal.com.. . > Yes, it was closed. > > > "Bruce Hagen" <Nospam@mymail.invalid> wrote in message > news:eYmPDAI7FHA.3660@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... >> Was OE closed when you deleted the dbx files? If you're sure that you deleted the proper Outbox.dbx, Sent Items is probably corrupt. Move any messages you want to keep out of Sent Items. Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance and see where OE is storing its files. Close OE. Go there with Windows Explorer and move Sent Items.dbx to an empty Windows folder. With Win2K and WinXP it will be a hidden file. You can use One or these tools to extract the messages from the old DBX file: DBXtract ($5): http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/ DBXpress: ($25 but worth it) http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx The messages can be dragged from a Windows folder back into an OE folder in OE's Folder List. In the future do not use the default folders to store messages. Move them to user created folders. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE Please respond in Newsgroup only. Open OE | Click on File | Identities | Add New Identity. After that, just
follow the prompts. It's the same as when you set up OE originally. Go to Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties and write down the info under each tab for reference. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "B" <buradori@msn.com> wrote in message news:BRSff.4955$w84.1025047@news20.bellglobal.com. .. > Sorry, but can you please give me a quick step by step? > Thanks, > Bura > > "Bruce Hagen" <Nospam@mymail.invalid> wrote in message > news:ufnMxmR7FHA.2036@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... >> You may have a damaged identity. Thanks Bruce. I backed up all the files in the message store and I added a
new identity and imported messages but all the subfolders disappeared when I rebooted. I then deleted both identities in "C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities", opened OE and it automatically created a new identity and imported the old messages from the backup up message store location. This fixed the problem. Please note that at first I simply copied all the .dbx files back to the new identity folder except for outbox.dbx and sent items.dbx, but this brought the error back. Only importing the messaged worked. Thanks for all you help! Glad it's fixed. For the future, have a look at these sites for backup
