Hi,
For some reason, a particular thread is not showing up when I view my newsgroup with View-->Current View-->Group Messages by Conversation All the messages in the thread in question will appear if I deselect the Group option. None are marked for ignore or anything like that. They will also appear if I do a Find, whether the Group option is active or not. But when it's Grouped, it's just not there. Ideas? Bill |

Most likely it's a message with an improper reference line. Newsgroups
Group by Conversation depends on the Reference line in the headers, so if that info is corrupted or modified by the sender, it will not group properly. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Thanks. I have an account for Microsoft's NNTP server so, for now, I can only visit the microsoft.public.* newsgroups. However, I looked in Google Groups on the message-id for the post you mentioned and found the thread at: http://groups.google.com/group/comp....0da106dccef089 There are 4 posts in the thread: first one from Terry, one from Bill that replied to Terry, one from Terry that replied to Bill, and another from ursus.kirk that replied to Terry's original post, so the thread looks like: Terry | Message-ID: <K9Xff...> (Terry's first post) | |___ Bill | | Message-ID: <9r6dn...> (Bill's reply post) | | References: <K9Xff...> (points to Terry's post) | | | |___ Terry | Message-ID: <CL5gf...> (Terry's reply post) | References: ... <9r6dn...> (points to Bill's post) | |___ ursus.kirk Message-ID: <43805...> (ursus' reply post) References: <K9Xff...> (points to Terry's post) Were there other posts in that thread that you expected to be there? When you group by Conversation, which posts disappear in Outlook Express? I looked at the References header in the replies and they are there and seem to show the correct threading. I see you are a Comcast user based on your IP address in your headers. If you used their contracted NNTP service from Giganews then giganews.com would appear somewhere in the PATH header. Since it doesn't, I don't know which NNTP server you use. |

- Yes, I'm a Comcast user via newsgroups.comcast.net
- Yes, their news service is contracted through GigaNews - Yes, those are all four posts I know of in the thread - No, there aren't any other posts I expect to see - Yes, all of them are missing when grouping by conversation Bill "Vanguard" <vanguard.code@comcastNIX.net> wrote in message news:eppxV2l7FHA.2176@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... > "Bill Marriott" <wjm@wjm.org> wrote in message > news:uJHXrsj7FHA.1416@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... >> Sure. Yup that was it.
Outlook was considering the new messages to be part of a thread that someone started back in January.
