On the View menu click All Headers. Now close the window and click No when prompted to save. Every new message window you open will then have the BCC line showing. > Is there a way to cc from the address book? Not immediately. You first have to start a new message. If you have already done what I recommended above, you will see BCC. -- Tom Koch, MVP for IE/Outlook Express http://www.insideoutlookexpress.com or http://www.insideoe.com Awareness is free. |

When you start a "new message", click on the address book icon next to the
TO. Your address book will open and you pick the recipients and then click the CC or the BCC box to move these names into the correct line on your new mail. Try reading the HELP topic once in a while. Indeed, I now see I should have learned it in Help -- I apologize. Two excuses: I have friends who do not bcc and send me their whole address book -- my suggestion that they bcc has been to no avail. This is because they use OE which hides bcc . Finally, I am not an OE user. I hate it. So I minimize my contract with it. Mason C |

People who send your name, along with several dozen other, are doing you a
great dis-service and publishing your address to the spammers. I reply to these people with a very "blunt" message and BCC everyone they sent to. The message is send is: "You have just done me and everyone on this message a great dis-service. There is software on the Internet that looks form mail with multiple addresses in the TO or CC header. Then this software harvests the addresses and sells them to the porno shops and spammers. Learn to use the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) header for this type or mail, or take my name out of your address book." By adding everyone she/he send to in the BCC column, the person will also soon learn that others are just as angry about the mass mailing and maybe they will learn a little too. Sometimes you have to hit the jackass on the head with a 2 x 4 to get their attention. Secondly, BCC messages are filtered as spam on some systems so you'll likely never see them. I agree that BCC is the way to go, if and only if the sender realizes the possibility that some recipients may not see the mail. Filtering or marking BCC messages as spam is a *very* bad spam-fighting practice as it is likely to produce many false positives on any mail from privacy conscious senders. -- sod |

But only by xcopying the addresses from the To: line and pasting them into the BCC: line. This amount of effort eludes my friends. Is there any simple way in OE to BCC an address list of friends? In Create Mail, click on the To: at the left of the Address Field. You will
see the list of entries in the Address Book with the option to click on any, or all and Add them to the To, CC, or BCC line. Simple and easy. More reading: Using BCC and Groups: To use the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) feature, In Create Mail, either click View>All Headers and type in the addresses separated by a ; Or: Click the To button. You will see your list of contacts and the choice of putting them in the To, CC, or BCC field. Click on an address, then click BCC to add it. Repeat for all the contacts you want. (Note: Most ISP's have limits as to how many e-mails you can send a one time. 25 is common, but it varies). Put your own address in the To box. This is the only address/name that any recipient will see. If you leave the To field blank, some people may not receive the e-mail due to message rules they have set up, or restrictions set by their ISP. You can also create groups if you send mail to the same people often. To create a group of contacts: You can create a single group name (or alias) to use when sending a message to several contacts at once. Simply create a group name and add individual contacts to the group. Then, just type the group name in the To box when you send e-mail. 1.. In the Address Book, select the folder in which you want to create a group. Click New on the toolbar, and then click New Group. 2.. The Properties dialog box opens. In the Group Name box, type the name of the group. 3.. There are several ways to add people to the group: a.. To add a person from your Address Book list, click Select Members, and then click a name from the Address Book list. b.. To add a person directly to the group without adding the name to your Address Book, type the person's name and e-mail address in the lower half of the Properties dialog box, and then click Add. c.. To add a person to both the group and your Address Book, click New Contact and fill in the appropriate information. d.. To use a directory service, click Select Members, and then click Find. Select a directory service from the drop-down list at the end of the text box. After finding and selecting an address, it is automatically added to your Address Book. 4.. Repeat for each addition until your group is defined. Note a.. To view a list of your groups separately from the Address Book listings, in the Address Book, on the View menu, make sure that Folders and Groups is selected. b.. You can create multiple groups, and contacts can belong to more than one group. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Mason C" <masonc2@earthlink.net> wrote in message news:8ch4o1pg11j7d6nkfivh6u0b7ea2dvil6f@4ax.com... > On Sun, 20 Nov 2005 06:40:37 GMT, Mason C <masonc2@earthlink.net> wrote: > >>Am I right in believing bcc is impossible in OE? >> >>Is there a way to cc from the address book? >> >> Mason C > > Ok, I can BCC a mailing list in OE.
