In clearing out the Temporary Internet Files folder I have discovered 4 or 5
hidden subfolders which still hold an assortment of files including files containing contents of recent and very old, long deleted emails along with old newsgroup postings which I have viewed in the past or posted to. I would like to clear out all the contents of these folders by deleting the entire folders. What other programs or computer functions are likely to be adversely affected by wholesale clearance of these folders? If wholesale deletion of folders is unadvisable, is there a way to get Outlook Express to clear the files it leaves there similar to Internet Explorer's "Delete files" Tools Option for clearing the Temporary Internet Files folder? I have been unable to correlate that clearing or deleting old files from within Outlook Express clears these files. Thanks Nikki |

Hi,
Those folders within the TIF folder should be cleared when you clear the Temporary Internet Files from Internet Options> General> Delete files if you check "Delete offline content" when that dialog pops up. It's often recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.) You can delete those folders, but they will be recreated. They're a necessary component of the cache indexing system. Additional information at How To Delete the Internet Explorer Temporary Internet Files: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm For more information on the content.ie5 folders go to http://groups.google.com/group/micro...er.ie6.browser and/or http://groups.google.com/group/micro...dowsxp.general and put content.ie5 in the "Search this group" field.
