Hi,
Could someone suggest the best way to convert the contents of the local OutlookExpress news/mail folders into text files? The idea, of course, is to avoid manually editing each and every message. I use Windows XP Professional and OutlookExpress 6 Thnx, Andre |

Drag/drop the contents of the local mail folder into a Windows folder you
create on your Desktop. Then go to the folder on your Desktop containing the EML files, select them all (Ctrl+A), right click on one, and select rename and change *ONLY* the extension of the files from EML to TXT. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. In addition to what Jim suggested, you can select several messages and then
go to Message | Combine and Decode and it will give one big text file, but the headers will be missing. You can also get something like DBXtract and extract the messages as eml files and then just rename the files to txt. steve "AW" <one_at_large@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:11oefn02u7lsqa6@corp.supernews.com... > Hi, > > Could someone suggest the best way to convert the contents of the local > OutlookExpress news/mail folders into text files? > > The idea, of course, is to avoid manually editing each and every message. > > I use Windows XP Professional and OutlookExpress 6 > > Thnx, > > Andre > > > |

It only costs $5 and it works. I did not write the program (Steve did), but I highly recommend it. The site (www.oehelp.com) also offers DBXpress which is much faster and can do more. Steve has several other very useful tools for OE. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE Please respond in Newsgroup.
