Default recovering lost inbox

While trying to recover my lost inbox (lost during compressing), I decided to
try to use the new Windows Desktop Search. This was able to find e-mails that
I recognize as ones that were lost. they show in "local folders/inbox" with
my name just being right before "local". And the message is also accuract.
But if I do a regular search, it does not tell me where local folders is.
How can I locate?

Why it happens:

http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/probl...s.htm#mailgone
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/...orruption.mspx

Tools>Options>Maintenance>Store folder will reveal the location of your
current Identity's store. Write it down.

In WindowsXP, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as
hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files
and Folders under Start>Control Panel>Folder Options>View.

In Windows Explorer, search for "Inbox.dbx" (without the quotes). Assuming
it's found in your store folder (above), move Inbox.dbx to another, non-OE
Windows folder and then see...

DBXtract

DBXtend (additional functionality)

DBXpress (faster, more powerful, with even greater functionality)
http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx

OEX (OE Enhancement Program)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To Avoid Such Corruption in Future:
- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.
- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.
- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm.
- WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is
automatically compacting your message store.
- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.
Yes I have done all of this and DBXpress has not been helpful.
But why does the Windows Desktop Search Engine find it? And even preview
it? Why can't the regular search find it?
the mail as single files does not exist, it is stored in a databse (.dbx)
file. the desktop search appliance is programmed for the characteristics of
the database and can look inside it to locate individual messages
If you have DBXpress and were not able to recover messages from the files,
then run it on the entire disk and see if it finds anything. If it doesn't
then the mails are gone for good.
