Marrie, it sure looks like AVG is involved? Is AVG the prog that you are using? If so, ensure that you did disable scanning totally. Someone else posted the same problem here on the 26th, k6mgo@verizon.net at about this time of day) it was from a different ISP to yours, but they did not come back. -- Regards Steve. MS-MVP. OE. The error message
'-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!' is coming from the AVG Anti-virus e-mail scanner. So the anti-virus isn't disabled. Or did you disable a different anti-virus. For help with AVG and e-mail, see: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5/lng/us...5/nid/752#5463 -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "marrie" <gkkojphgzulw@mailinator.com> wrote in message news:uEVRqpe9FHA.472@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... > Hello. Ok. it seemed to have worked. I won't be optimistic until I try this method
again the next time I reboot. "marrie" <gkkojphgzulw@mailinator.com> wrote in message news:%23JFKP%23f9FHA.4004@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... > Well, I just exited the AVG control center totally. marrie, are you also using ZoneAlarm?
If so disable email protection in that. See: http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/re...?3,28880,29941 -- Regards Steve. MS-MVP. OE. [DTS] |

Then should I rerun the installer and elect to not have the email scanner
uninstalled? That is how I understand by reading the document to uninstall the email scanner. If AVG insists on resetting e-mail scanning when you reboot, then by all
means remove it and reinstall it. When prompted, choose Custom Installation and *uncheck* e-mail scanning when you see the option. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "marrie" <gkkojphgzulw@mailinator.com> wrote in message news:uc40yCg9FHA.736@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... > Then should I rerun the installer and elect to not have the email scanner > uninstalled?
