I have win2000 with outlook express6. When trying to send out an email I
get this error. The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was email Subject 'speech', Account: 'Giuseppe's Email', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '551 not our customer', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 551, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 What is the problem? |

Hi Giuseppe,
One possible cause is Comcast (may) require authentication to be used with the SMTP (Outgoing) server. If you know this to be true... Click to select the My server requires authentication check box, which is located in the Outgoing Mail Server properties in Outlook Express. If authentication is required it is likely to be the same as for the POP3 (Incoming) authentication. Comcast would provide the definitive information. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "Giuseppe Chirico" <doubleimage22@comcast.net> wrote in message news:eEYmG3i9FHA.3592@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... I checked the box for My server requires authentication and it doesn't work.
I have sent email to this person before, I am sending my email to just one person at a time. I can't figure it out why it doesn't work. The problem was as outlined in a response to the immediate posting above.
Hotmail and MSN were blocking Comcast emails over a situation involving the recent virus (Sober). They apparently also have been at odds with Comcast over Spam. They must have resolved their problems, as within the last hour I have been able to send emails again to Hotmail and MSN addressee's. Did you edit that error message?
Where is says The rejected e-mail address was email The word "email" at the end should have been the full e-mail address of the recipient. A one word e-mail address will default to your ISP. So Comcast is saying that they have no customer with an e-mail address of email@comcast.net. Select your Outbox folder in OE, highlight the problem message and either press the delete key to delete it or double click to open and fix the TO e-mail address. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Giuseppe Chirico" <doubleimage22@comcast.net> wrote in message news:eEYmG3i9FHA.3592@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... >I have win2000 with outlook express6.
