I visited a friend and checked my 7 Hotmail accounts from her computer using
www.hotmail.com to access them, yesterday when she went to use her Outlook Express email for the first time since I was there it downloaded all my inboxes onto her hard drive, now she can read all my messages sent and received, years worth since there are at least 6000 in her hard drive. Neither of us changed any settings to cause this to happen and I sure did not want my personal emails on someone elses computer...and I have never even used Outlook Express...so here's the question, how does she get rid of them without deleting them from my inboxes and how will I know she is not constantly downloading new ones in the future...AND how did this happen!!?? You did it
on the web login page for hotmail are three radio buttons [ ] Save my e-mail address and password [ ] Save my e-mail address [x] Always ask for my e-mail address and password You did not put check in the last position, but left it in the default remember address & password read the instructions change your hotmail password -- - Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://security.kolla.de AVG free antivirus http://www.grisoft.com Etrust/Vet/CA.online Antivirus scan http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/ActiveScan/ Panda online AntiSpyware Scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/virus_info/spyware/test/ Catalog of removal tools (1) http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Catalog of removal tools (2) http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/n...aspx?CID=40387 Trouble Shooting guide to Windows http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/ Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors/webmasters _ "Wall228Full" <Wall228Full@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A79EF9C3-615D-4981-8AB9-F4CBBB3AE87A@microsoft.com... > I visited a friend and checked my 7 Hotmail accounts from her computer using > www.hotmail.com to access them, yesterday when she went to use her Outlook > Express email for the first time since I was there it downloaded all my > inboxes onto her hard drive, now she can read all my messages sent and > received, years worth since there are at least 6000 in her hard drive. > Neither of us changed any settings to cause this to happen and I sure did not > want my personal emails on someone elses computer...and I have never even > used Outlook Express...so here's the question, how does she get rid of them > without deleting them from my inboxes and how will I know she is not > constantly downloading new ones in the future...AND how did this happen!!?? I 1)Someone must have configured Outlook Express to receive these mails. 2)If you have never accessed your Hotmail accounts via Outlook Express before now, whether on her machine or yours, and unless all are paid accounts, you couldn't have set OE up to receive the Hotmail messages. So..... 3) These mails are NOT in Outlook Express? 4) OE only mirrors what is on the Hotmail site. If you delete them from OE, then they are gone from Hotmail. -- Kath Adams MS MVP - Windows (IE/OE) |

Have you witnessed this in person? Pretty hard to believe the messages have
been downloaded to and are accessible in OE. IE, maybe, but... -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Security, Shell/User) Wall228Full wrote: > I visited a friend and checked my 7 Hotmail accounts from her computer > using > www.hotmail.com to access them, yesterday when she went to use her Outlook > Express email for the first time since I was there it downloaded all my > inboxes onto her hard drive, now she can read all my messages sent and > received, years worth since there are at least 6000 in her hard drive. > Neither of us changed any settings to cause this to happen and I sure did > not want my personal emails on someone elses computer...and I have never > even used Outlook Express...so here's the question, how does she get rid > of > them without deleting them from my inboxes and how will I know she is not > constantly downloading new ones in the future...AND how did this > happen!!?? > I |
