At work, at home, or where? Have you asked the IT professionals running the
Exchange server what it might be? You give no real info that might enable anyone to assist you. Your reply should include basic info as to your operating system, version of Outlook or Outlook Express in use, whether or not you receive any error messages when connecting to the mail server, whether it is an IMAP or POP3 server, etc. All crystal balls are out at the shop being polished to remove the internal fog that has accumulated from reading and trying to guess at the unstated content between the lines in too many thousands of posts similar to this. I don't know what exchange system manager has to do with OE. To see the OE data files go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and write down their location. Then go to that location with Windows Explorer (set to show hidden files and folders) and look at the DBX files. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE Please respond in Newsgroup only. At work.
There are no IT professionals. It is a very young company. Kind of feeling it out. I'm using outlook express,(don't know version because i'm not at work right now.) there is no error message It is a pop3 server. Exchange system manager shows you the mailbox store. Therefore showing you how bigt each of your users mailboxes are. I looked up the .dbx file on the account but got distracted because it was going to document and settings\application ....\basically a user account which didn't seem right to me at the time. but i will check that approach out in the morning. Thanks to both Frank and Jim. I will post if i find the awnser Here is another wrench |

There is a separate DBX store for each Windows User and each OE Identity. These are usually kept in C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Applicationd Data\Identities\{GUID} where {GUID} is a long alphanumeric number for the identity. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE Please respond in Newsgroup only.
