Hi all,
No this is not a 'top post' The discussion below took place around myproblem, without resolution and Frank, who is trying to help me, suggested I post it here. Please read the thread and if anyone can help, it would be much appreciated. Frank: I take it you cannot see the posts from home. Can you share the newsgroup and server? What newsreader are you using? Have you tried posting to microsoft.public.indows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookex press ? |

This shows up fine using OE. Probably unrelated, but you have some Windows

At home? Are you > including any attachments to your posts, especially binary attachments? The feed is obviously coming through different servers, but I have little knowledge of the details. To me that side of it is the 'dark side'. No,no attachments. >>"being work pc are posts blocked by the firewall"<< The NG's have worked fine from work for over a decade, even now, everything seems 100% normal, my posts appear alongside everyone elses, but no one is seeing them, including me when connecting from home. I lost the feed for a few weeks and complained to our IT. They contacted the ISP and the feed was resumed, but then the "invisibility" problem started. If the problem was a simple setting or something, you guys here would have known about it, so I reckon it must be the ISP again. I'll have to log another fault. The firewall does play a role though, I can access only one news server. I cannot access this one i.e. msnews.microsoft.com from work and therefore not these Microsoft newsgroups. That's why there is 24 hours between my posts here, I have to wait until I get back home again. >>"you have some Windows Updates waiting for you. Pay the site a visit."<< They have software at work which auto-loads updates on all work PC's (as well as any other junk they think we need). I believe the work PC's are up to date. Fortunately/unfortunately, I won't be able to pursue this any further until January 'cause I started my leave today. ![]() |

On second thoughts Almostbob, you may have a point, but not blocked on the
way IN, blocked on the way OUT. Maybe the newsfeed is being downloaded through the firewall and what I'm seeing is "local" and my posts are also "local", so no one from otherside the firewall can see them i.e. they are not being uploaded to the outside. You think? |

Out bound messages is what I thought
they would show up in sent items, but go no further than the firewall there may be a news server permitted by the it department, and you are just accessing a different one -- - Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://security.kolla.de AVG free antivirus http://www.grisoft.com Etrust/Vet/CA.online Antivirus scan http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/ActiveScan/ Panda online AntiSpyware Scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/virus_info/spyware/test/ Catalog of removal tools (1) http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Catalog of removal tools (2) http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/n...aspx?CID=40387 Trouble Shooting guide to Windows http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/ Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors/webmasters _ "Doug Dread" <doug.d@nospamabsamail.co.za> wrote in message news:u1Er4qQ$FHA.160@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... > On second thoughts Almostbob, you may have a point, but not blocked on the > way IN, blocked on the way OUT.
