Default Problem with IE 6 SP2

After a (solved) problem with OE, IE (6 SP2), even if regularly starts,
doesn't connect to any URL. I mean: I write the URL, but IE doesn't do
anything after starting the connection. Once, it was possible to install
again IE as a single component, but after SP2 I think this is not possible.
Can someone help me?
Thank you in advance.
Giovanni

GRL
try this.....
Start|Run
type

NETSH WINSOCK /RESET

click on OK
Reboot and try IE again.

Thank you.
Solved otherwise: it was a problem due to the modification of some keys of
the register, probably by a spyware; initially not revealed by my
antispywares (MS and Norton), but discovered by Spybot.

Glad to hear it! - bear the fix I sent in mind, though, if similar should
happen in future - it'll do the same as what Spybot did to fix it (Spybot I
suspect actually uses that command - Bear, can you confirm??)

No, I can't. AFAIK none of the anti-hjiackware apps (including MWAS) will
"reset Winsock". They may remove what broke it but...
