Default html question

I sent a friend an email that has colors and a graphic image in it. I
assume this must mean it's HTML.

My friend downloads the message, but has an empty frame with a little red
x
in upper left corner.

I assume this is because my friends OE program isn't set to receive HTML.

If this is the case, what's the toggle to turning HTML on for received
messages?

If it's not a HTML issue, what should my friend to to get one of these
types
messages as sent?

If your friend is using OE, Tools | Options | Read all messages in Plain
Text - Uncheck it.

Are the graphics showing up in your Sent Items OK? If not, the problem is on
your end.

If your friend either cannot, or does not want HTML messages, then you
should learn to send to that person only mail in "plain text". There is an
option in your address book, under "properties" then "name" for each
individual to send only Plain Text messages to that individual. Then the
message will be converted automatically to plain text.

Ive had the same problem since an on-line upgrade several months
ago. I have followed up on this and my OE does not have the Plain
Text box checkes...yet the problem prevails. What else might be
causing this?

Incoming? What's your OS? If it's XP/SP2, is "Block Images........" checked.

A little more description then I have the same problem would be helpful.

I'm running XP Pro with SP2. This setup was working well prior to
an on-line upgrade, then I started noticing the picture blocking.
I get most pictures, but occasionally I get the red x.

If you are talking about OE's Options - Security Tab - Block
images and other external content in HTML e-mail, no this box is
not checked.

There are a few possibilities. Some are on the sender's end, and some may be
on your end.
