Default Filtering emails

I'm trying to set up filters to filter out EBay and PayPal scammers. Having
tried just about every filter setup possible, i have hit a wall. Is there any
way i can filter out emails to disapear without a trace, to the point that i
have no idea that they were even there at all? I know i can filter them into
the delete folder, but can i filter them into oblivion?

Chose *Delete it from server* instead of Delete it.

If you are using a third party "SPAM" filter programs such as "PopFile", the
message must be downloaded to check for spam. The "Delete from Server" action
won't work, or at least it doesn't for me. Most Spam filter programs alter the
Subject: Line. Adding the phrase like "(SPAM)" (w/o quotes) to it.

So the rule would look like this.
1. If the message arrives and the Subject: Line contains (SPAM).
2. Delete It.
3. Mark it Read. (You may not want to use this action right away, until you are
confident with the Spam filter's learning curve.)
4. Stop Processing More Rules. (very important to add this Action)

Move this Rule to the bottom of your list, just below any rules that
automatically moves messages into user created folders.

I've tried the "don't download", and "delete from server" filters a million
times. All Outlook Express filters have "after email arrives" at the begining
of them, which makes me wonder what the point is of the "don't download" or
"Delete from server" filters. Anyone know?

"after email arrives" = "after email arrives at server"

*After the mail arrives* means arrives at the server. Confusing, I know. If
you choose Do not download, then it will stay on the server which will
eventually get choked up.

You are probably not getting the correct info to enter into the rule. To
check to see if the rule itself is working, add your address and send
yourself an e-mail. If you don't get it, the info for the other addresses is
incorrect. If you do get it, then the registry key is damaged. We'll talk
about that after you test the rule.

Don't forget to remove your address after the test.

I set up a simple rule to "leave on server" filter for anything with the word
ebay in the body. Below that i set up a "delete on the server" filter for
anything with the word ebay in the body. Both filters failed to stop the
email getting through. Both are my only filters

That's a Message Body rule. You never mentioned that was the type of rule
you were trying to create. They *have* to be downloaded in order for the
rule to read the message. Therefore, you can only choose Delete it & Stop
processing more rules, and have it sent to the Deleted Items folder. (Or
another folder).

Neither of those rules will work on the message body since OE has to
download the message to check the body. Those two rules only work on To:,
CC:, From:, and Subject.

While the other part of your thread is interesting have you looked at your
service providers options? On mine (and many other services too) I can
access a web based service where I can view and delete mails before they
even download- it offers up to 100 rules. It cuts all of the other messing
around as they never reach your email program. Check if your service
provider offers web based mail facilities and check the options.
