I'm running windows XP x64. When I try to spell check I get "an error
occurred while spelling was being checked" I tried the knoledge base items and get the same error. Anyone know a work around? Any one else having the same problem? Hope this is the correct group. |

The doc file available at this link will explain that spell check in x64 is
not supported: Download details: Changes to Functionality in Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en See page 9 regarding Outlook Express: <quote> What existing functionality is changing in Windows XP Professional x64 Edition? Spell Checking Detailed description Spell checking is not supported in the 64-bit version of Outlook Express. What works differently? Because spell checking is not supported, you will see an error if you try to check spelling within a new message in Outlook Express by clicking Spelling on the Tools menu, or by pressing F7. <end quote> An install of Office has no effect on this problem. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Thanks. Thank you Jim. Though it's not the answer I wanted to here, at least I can
stop looking and searching to make it work ![]() "Jim Pickering" wrote: > The doc file available at this link will explain that spell check in x64 is > not supported: > > Download details: Changes to Functionality in Microsoft Windows XP > Professional x64 Edition: > http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en > > See page 9 regarding Outlook Express: > > <quote> > What existing functionality is changing in Windows XP Professional x64 > Edition? > Spell Checking > Detailed description > Spell checking is not supported in the 64-bit version of Outlook Express. > What works differently? > Because spell checking is not supported, you will see an error if you try to > check spelling within a new message in Outlook Express by clicking Spelling > on the Tools menu, or by pressing F7. > <end quote> > > An install of Office has no effect on this problem. > -- > Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express > https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 > Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. > Thanks. > > > "PA Bear" <PABearMVP@gmail.com> wrote in message > news:urxVgYpAGHA.4004@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... > > See OE Help > About > Check the spelling in messages: Do you have any of > > the MS Office programs installed? > > -- > > ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) > > MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), Aumha.org VSOP, DTS-L.org > > > > Miker wrote: > >> I'm running windows XP x64. Well, hopefully it will be changed as the x64 op systems mature, but for
right now, it looks like it's a non starter. I have not read any reports on whether or not this works in the 64-bit
version of OE, but it's worth a try: TinySpell http://www.megspace.com/computers/tinyspell/ -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE "Miker" <Miker@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9A9A5C28-33CA-4913-99A6-367DF0898E80@microsoft.com > Thank you Jim. Don't think so but it's possible if a permanent fix isn't found soon.
