Default mouse pointer freezes then keyboad freezes

The mouse usually freezes after not using the computer for a short period of time. A total reboot of the system is necessary every time this problem occurs. Does any body have any suggestions. Thanks.

Is it a cordless mouse? Cordless mice go into low-power mode to extend
their battery life. Sounds like you have a defective cordless mouse, the
batteries are dead (you did already try replacing them, right?), or the
software/driver is bad or corrupted and you have to download the latest
version for whatever UNNAMED mouse you have from the manufacturer's web
site.

By the way, putting your name and e-mail address in your signature is
superfluous. They are already in the From header so they add no additional
information.

Not an OE question.

Disable any sleep modes. Look in your BIOS first and disable those, then the
Windows ones.
If that doesn't help go to a relevant newsgroup and ask. But do give them
some information to work on- you haven't given much away here to allow
anyone to help.
What kind of connection is used? Serial/PS2/USB/Wireless? Some wireless use
only one connection, if serial careful with shared interrupts etc
etc........ You really need to give info or you may get irrelevant help.

Thank you for your input. I'll look at it again and give more information. I
know it is not a wireless mouse, but, which port I'll have to dig out the
diagram. I thank both you and Vanguard for you help.

If you connected it to USB, try switching to the PS/2 port.

The mouse is not a wireless, and plugs into a PS2 port, same as the
keyboard.
