When In the "Find Message" option I cannot change to other newsgroups by
selecting the "Browse" button. The "Browse" button IS NOT greyed out. Can anybody explain why ? I have been able to do so before. I have to close the "Find Message" screen, change newgroups, then open up a new "Find Message" screen. Steven |

Try creating a new identity switch to it and set up some newsgroups in that
identity and test it. Sounds like you may have some registry corruption in your existing identity. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Hi Dolby,
Jim may have hit the nail on the head. Other causes for Find problems include left-over Search Folder(xxx).dbx files in the message store folder. These files are normally cleaned-up automatically, but repeated use of Find can leave them behind. The file, Folders.dbx, may be involved, but removing this file (so that a new one will be created) will lead to some changes such as lost folder hierarchy and the lost of subscribed newsgroups. You can try looking for the Search DBX files or deleting Folders.dbx, but a guarantee that Find will work normally again cannot be given. See Inside OE to understand what will occur when Folders.dbx is replaced. http://insideoe.com/files/store.htm#deldbx Open the Store Folder Instead of using search the store folder can be opened directly. Each identity has its own store folder. a.. In Outlook Express click on Tools, Options, Maintenance tab...Store Folder. b.. Place the cursor at the left of the text of the path to the folder. c.. Drag the cursor to the right until the text scrolls to the end. d.. Right-click on the text and choose Copy. e.. In the Start, Run box right-click Paste. Click OK to open the store folder. f.. Close Outlook Express before working with the message store files. Using Keyboard Shortcuts for Transfer of the Folder Path Courtesy of: Jim Pickering, MVP-Outlook Express An even easier method when opening that page is to use the Tab to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C and close OE, then use Start/Run and Ctrl+V. Same caveat about hidden files applies but can be easily modified in Explorer by using Tools/Folder Options. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "Dolby" <xxx@xxx.com> wrote in message news:_O6dnU5CbbbigTbeRVnyiA@pipex.net... Hi Kuay Tim,
I deleted the Folders.dbx file as well as many Search.dbx files and that has done the trick.
