Default Frames

I am using XP Pro SP2 and IE 6.0.2900.2180.

At times when I visited some web pages I get the message that my browser
doesn't support frames and the page may not display properly.

Is this common with IE and is there anyway that I can make it that it does
support frames, please.

TIA

Internet Explorer has supported frames for many years, so there is nothing you
need to do to add support. Do you have an example URL of a page that doesn't
display properly for you? It could be something specific to that page.

Thanks for your reply Tom, the most recent example was in Frontpage when I
was doing some work there on a site. From other readings it seems that the
site may be in error by not testing IE.

I won't worry further about it at this time but if I happen on another
occurrence on a web site I will report back on here.

Compliments of the Season to All.

Default Re: Frames

There aren't any frames on that page ????

All browsers I know of will accept some page errors and continue, not always
the same errors of course, but something like a missing > will cause the
browser to misinterpret another item further down the page - the kind of
situation where there is an error but it's not where you would naturally
look.

You could look in the tools>internet options>security>internet zone(and
others)>custom button and see how your frame settings are set.

I don't know for sure but it is possible that not allowing things to run in
an Iframe or Subframe is causing something else to think frames are not
supported. I don't suggest lowering your security in any way, but if there's
anything set to "disable" maybe setting it to prompt will cause another
message and there will be a clue. Even so I don't think this is the actual
problem.

Another thing that may cause this is pop up and ad blocking software or even
perhaps some integrated firewall / security package. Anything filtering out
"Referrer" or "Browser" strings might cause the web page to give error
messages, and from what you say that sounds like a possibility.

Have a quick look at this old page, it will tell you what you are sending.

IE shows (For me that is)

You are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows
NT 5.2; SV1; SALT 1.0.50414.1 0111 Developer; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; InfoPath.1;
..NET CLR 2.0.50727)

FireFox shows
You are using Netscape 5.0 (Windows; en-US)
