Hi Cathy,
Can you confirm that your MSN account is POP3? All new accounts are HTML (Hotmail type) accounts. Only a shrinking number of "Legacy" users have POP3 (MSN) accounts. In any event, it appears the account is not set-up properly. The MSN Support page might have instructions for using Outlook Express. assuming that you are using the msn account only to correct gather
information to fix the error in your pop3 mail accounts, the server name in tools accounts "Your mail account that is having problems" properties servers is recorded as 'pop3' not very likely since pop3 is a mail type it should be the server name of your ISP, often 'mail.ISP.something', or 'pop.ISP.somethingelse' the easiest check, and often useful, is to check the ISP web page for the proper settings for their email setup, in faq or helpscreens -- - Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://security.kolla.de AVG free antivirus http://www.grisoft.com Etrust/Vet/CA.online Antivirus scan http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/ActiveScan/ Panda online AntiSpyware Scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/virus_info/spyware/test/ Catalog of removal tools (1) http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Catalog of removal tools (2) http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/n...aspx?CID=40387 Trouble Shooting guide to Windows http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/ Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors/webmasters _ "clouts1" <clouts1@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9BC3A8D2-4668-440A-B6A7-7422393F36EC@microsoft.com... > > > I cannot access my Oulook Express 6.0 mail program...I get this message : > > " The host 'pop3' could not be found. I also get this error message. The 0x800CCC0D code refers to my ISP (BT Bt
Broadband) and the helpdesk confirmed my details were correct, ie a POP3 server etc. An additional error code is apparantly a Microsoft one, ....Ox000CCC18. I'm using broadband with an ADSL modem, and could use som eassistance. Harry McMahon |

If you don't include previous replies in your post, it is very unclear what
your problem is. This is what I have for your error. If it does not help, please post the entire error message and what you are doing when you see it. Error 0x000ccc18: 1. Recheck account information, make sure account is not case sensitive (most are), close OE and restart computer before attempting to re-connect. Also set up a different identity and see if OE will allow logon form a different identity with the same information. 2. Make sure your account is still active with the ISP and that the ISP is not having an e-mail outage. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Harry" <Harry@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1BCCC696-C31B-411B-ACBE-FA56B9045273@microsoft.com... >I also get this error message.
