Hi, can someone tell me if there are any other free email services that I
can use in/with my OE. I can't afford to pay for email, so it's goodbye to hotmail. I would appreciate anyone's help. Happy Holiday! |

There are none but you may not need one at this point.
When were you last able to access the Hotmail account in OE? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), Aumha.org VSOP, DTS-L.org Svandisel wrote: > Hi, can someone tell me if there are any other free email services that I > can use in/with my OE. GMail; POP3 access and SMTP access; but port 587 won't work with MS Outlook Express, use port 465 instead. I signed up for a free Yahoo! Mail account in Japan a while back, and have SMTP/POP3 access to the servers pop.mail.yahoo.co.jp and smtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp. Presumably, you can get an account with yahoo.co.uk. I am currently have a little difficulty with the SMTP server for GMX; but, if you can read German, you could give it a try. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

If the Yahoo domain to which you connect still permits access to their POP3/SMTP servers then just follow their web help pages on setting up a POP/SMTP account in OE. If the Yahoo domain doesn't NOT provide free access to their mail servers, get YahooPOPs which runs as a local HTTP-to-POP3 proxy between your POP3 e-mail client and Yahoo's HTTP webmail interface. http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/ A Google search on "+free +e-mail" would also show lots of matches to do some research. There are still some free POP3/SMTP providers except most have much smaller quotas than Yahoo or Hotmail. However, if you poll your mailbox frequently enough then you should remain way below your quota, anyway. So why can't you use your own ISP's (SBC Yahoo) mailbox? -- __________________________________________________ Post replies to the newsgroup - Share with others. If you want a quick way to get at their webmail interface without having to navigate to it along with the option of making it your default e-mail program, you can download Yahoo's ActiveX control that will act as the default e-mail program and automatically start up their webmail interface (but you have to click on a mailto:// link to trigger that process; otherwise, you navigate to their webmail interface to use that as your e-mail "client").
