Is it possible to just send to recipients via BCC without putting in a To
address? I though previously you always needed a To address. TIA B.W. |

Some ISPs will put the BCC addresses in the To field if the To field is
empty. -- Ron Sommer "B.W." <bwaller@aapt.net.auxx (drop the xx)> wrote in message news:OEsRVr0CGHA.812@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > Is it possible to just send to recipients via BCC without putting in a To > address? I though previously you always needed a To address. > > TIA > > B.W. > > > |

The To, Cc, Bcc, and Subject headers are optional (since they are NOT used to specify the recipients as that is performed by the RCPT-TO command that the client sends to the server which can come from anywhere, including outside the mail, as with bulk mailers). Those headers may appear zero or one times. If an e-mail client demands that the To header not be empty (but at least one recipient was specified in another header) then that e-mail client is not RFC compliant. Well, you are using a Microsoft product. -- __________________________________________________ Post replies to the newsgroup - Share with others.
