Default Make "Headers Only" the default?

When I subscribe to a new newsgroup, IE 6 chooses "New Messages Only" as the
default Synchronization Setting.

I have to go in each time and manually change that to my preference, which
is "Headers Only". Is there some way I can make "Headers Only" the default?

Even if that could be done? You would still have to go 'in' to tick the box
to get sync to work, not a big job to change to your desired option at the
same time?

The default is actually Don't Synchronize (e.g. Synchronization Settings
checkbox in the subscription list for a news account is unchecked).
If you use the checkbox it becomes New messages only apparently.
Therefore, don't use the checkbox. Use the Settings button instead.
Notice that when you use that it is clear what the current setting is;
so you may feel less put out than from having to change the setting twice.
<w>

BTW in another sense Headers already is the default with
or without synchronization. E.g. as soon as you enter a newsgroup
while you are online the Get ___ headers... option takes effect
and that action occurs whether the option is checked or not.
If unchecked *all* possible new headers will be downloaded.
