Default Saving favourites

Having got to the stage where I now need to reload windows, how can I save
my favourites in IE without having to copy all the addresses by hand!

I run 98SE

In IE: File | Export | Favorites. Send them to a location to copy them to
CD. After you reinstall Windows, copy them from the CD to a folder on your
HDD and File | Import | Favorites.

Or you can export them to a floppy directly.

It's never a good idea to use anything other than a dedicated file manager
(like Windows Explorer) to write data to a floppy. They're too prone to
mechanical error and can result in data loss.

Hasn't been my experience since 1997 with 95, 98, 98SE, W2K, XP Pro
English, XP Pro Spanish and XP Home Spanish. Are you speaking from
experience or theory?

Saving to a floppy uses exactly the same file manager as copying.

Very bad experience--albeit admittedly with Office programs such as Word and
Excel.

That's a slightly different case. Office programs do not use the same
file functions that Explorer does. They save a new version of a file by
storing a temporary copy, deleting the old version, and renaming the
temporary version to the permanant name. This procedure is much safer
when you have plenty of disk space but can be very much riskier on
removable drives with limited available space. Hence the recommendation
to copy files to your hard drive, update them there, and then copy the
revised version to the floppy.
