Just got a new computer, and wanted to transfer my addrerss book, messages,
and IE favorites from old machine. I used an external hard drive, and copied the address book, messages, and favorites folder in IE. I can now access those files on new machine, but not sure how to go about putting them on new system. Both machines run IE 6, old system is Win 98, new is Win XP, if it matters. I tried to "import" the address book, but when I browse to that folder it appears there is nothing in it. If I just open the folder, the files are there, and list as vCard files. Any help/info greatly appreciated, Todd McD |

For all OE items, see:
Backup & Restore: http://www.insideoe.com/backup/ For your Favorites: In IE: File | Export | Favorites. Send them to a location to copy them to CD. On the new machine, copy them from the CD to a folder on your HDD and in IE: File | Import | Favorites. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Patricia McDermott" <pjm@tampabay.rr.com> wrote in message news:eput$NDDGHA.1124@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > Just got a new computer, and wanted to transfer my addrerss book, > messages, and IE favorites from old machine. > > I used an external hard drive, and copied the address book, messages, and > favorites folder in IE. Were you using Mozilla on your old machine? http://vcard.mozdev.org/ It seems to me that your backup of your address book etc may be in a format that Outlook Express will not recognise. Can you still access your old machine and back up these files in a different file format? -- Hope this helps.
