When I get a message and click on the link, I receive a beep from my computer
and it does not go to the web to open the subject? Please help me fix this. Thanks Bill |

From:
http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm If nothing happens when you click a link: Open Windows Explorer. Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types. Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it. Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version. Select 'open'. Click Edit. "Application used to perform this action" should read: "C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome (Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the double quotes.) DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have: #1: "%1",,-1,0,,,, #2 IExplore #3 (blank) #4 WWW_OpenURL URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same. Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE. You may need to reboot. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Harley" <Harley@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:738F1B54-4EA2-4717-9521-678FB360CAB6@microsoft.com... > When I get a message and click on the link, I receive a beep from my > computer > and it does not go to the web to open the subject? > > Please help me fix this. > Thanks > > Bill |

While this is an Outlook Express newsgroup, the fix should be the same for
links in an Oulook message. 1. You click on a link and an IE window doesn't even open: http://www.oehelp.com/ielnk.aspx 2. You click on a link and an IE window opens but it doesn't load: Try re-registering all of the DLLs listed in this KB article... You Cannot Open New Internet Explorer Window or Nothing Happens After You Click on a Link http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679 3. Installing the latest Cumulative Patch for IE may solve the problem as a side-effect. Check in at Windows Update. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), Aumha.org VSOP, DTS-L.org Harley wrote: > When I get a message and click on the link, I receive a beep from my > computer and it does not go to the web to open the subject? |

That "sounds" like a Pop-up blocker. If you are using a Pop-up Ad
blocker program, check its documentation to see if it is blocking the opening of a new web browser and how to workaround that. Many make a sound when they block a pop-up. And depending on the settings, opening a new browser window can be considered a pop-up. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Harley" <Harley@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:738F1B54-4EA2-4717-9521-678FB360CAB6@microsoft.com... > When I get a message and click on the link, I receive a beep from my > computer > and it does not go to the web to open the subject? > > Please help me fix this. > Thanks > > Bill |
