Friends - HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
I need a hand . . . I am unable to send or receive email in OE 6. This started yesterday. I can't think of any event that would precipitate this ? I get the following messages, you can view them at http://www.boblund.com/oe.htm 1) "POP 3 server has not responded" 2) "A time-out .........No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19" In the past I have deleted POP3uidl.dbx and rebooted, problem solved, but not this time! I am able to receive and sent mail from my ISP provided Internet access to my mailbox. Of course my ISP say's the issue is on my end, we reviewed setting's, and seem to be in a agreement that they are correct. I turned off Norton email scanning, but no dice. Help appreciated, thanks, Bob |

Sometimes you have to remove Norton completely, using the steps outlined on the Symantec site. At that point, you would either re-install Norton, being sure to _NOT_ enable e-mail scanning, ever, or just install something better. FWIW, I do no email scanning, whatsoever. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

Hi Bob,
When the settings were reviewed were they re-entered? This is sometimes necessary and stands a good chance of restoring functionality. Server names User name Password/authentication The account could also be recreated, or created in a new OE identity for testing, but these steps likely will not be needed. The use of A/V message scan can fail at any time, resulting in connection and account configuration problems. It connected fine. |

Make sure that the server names for the account are correct. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE Please respond in Newsgroup. I've had exactly the same problem and it started the same day as yours. I
think there is a bug out there corrupting OE. I've scanned using Norton antivirus, Spybot, adaware and Microsoft Antispyware but can't find anything. I have happily used Norton checking my emails for months. Why should it suddenly corrupt? As a short term resolution I have restored back to a few days earlier and it is fine but the next morning when I boot up it comes back. What to do? Have you turned off e-mail scanning? Please post the entire error message if
that does not fix it. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Rawlplug" <Rawlplug@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C722518A-42D1-4E1F-8E0E-F33F52BC5C90@microsoft.com... > I've had exactly the same problem and it started the same day as yours. Many thanks for your reply,
Yes, I tried that and it made no difference. The error message said that a timeout had occurred while communicating with the server. It then gave my account details and the error code 0x800CCC19. However, I appear to have fixed it by running "Noadware". This picked up a number of items not found by all the others I used. Everything is working fine just now but the big test will be when I boot up tomorrow morning! Regards, Rawlplug. "Bruce Hagen" wrote: > Have you turned off e-mail scanning? While it's better than it used to be (cf.
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_....htm#naw_note), Noadware is not one of the most trusted/used of the anti-malware tools out there.
