It has been awhile since I played with an IMAP account. Don't you have to define a *separate* set of rules for the IMAP account? If I am recalling correctly, rules defined for POP3 accounts don't get exercised for mails retrieved from an IMAP server. Also, rules do not work for HTTPmail accounts. The OP has yet to mention from what type of mail server he is retrieving his mails. Whether deleting locally or remotely (delete from server), the mail (which may only be the headers) still have to be downloaded and go into the Inbox for the rules to interrogate them to then commit their action. So mail still has to go to the Inbox before the rules get *automatically* exercised against them. While the user may select a different folder on which to *manually* exercise a rule to test it, *automatic* exercise of rules applies only against items in the Inbox. However, the OP said that manual exercise of the rule did not work, either. That is why I suggested the OP send himself a purely text-only message to see if the rule can then detect the string in the body of that test mail. |
