The problem with non-stopped playback should mean a driver is locking up on
you, probably your sound card driver. Has your sound card provider released
a driver update?

That non-showing of UI should mean your wmploc.dll is a funky version. If
you reinstall WMP from http://www.windowsmedia.com/download , I would
believe that this problem would go away.
