I have a DVD drive in my Dell set to UK region. It has worked fine for ages.
However, I have just played a DVD in it that has caused the region to set to 'unset'. I did nothing unusual: just played the DVD. All works well if I set region back to UK, but it has used up one of the DVD's drive 'lives'. Anybody any idea why this happens? Thanks |

It was working fine on region 2. I played a DVD and without doing anything it
changed to 'region unset' and would not play anything. I have changed it back to region 2 and it works again. My question is how can just playing a DVD cause the region to change to 'unset'. My question is how can > just playing a DVD > cause the region to change to 'unset'. Was the DVD a region other than 2? Or was it perhaps "region-free"? It may not have been the DVD. I did a Google search on "region unset" then "DVD" and it seems it could be a bug in firmware bug.
