Default audio file converting?

I have an Olypus digital voice recorder that came with program called
"digital wave player". Via USB cable I can download from recorder to my
computer using the digital wave player. I have tried various different ways
of copying files from the digital wave player to CD's, but can play them back
in a computer only! Will not play in home or auto CD players. Have tried
Windows media player, Sonic record now, etc... Digital wave player saves
files as .wav Is there a windows media player that will convert these files
to something I can burn to disc and playback in home/auto players? Thanks
for input.

If you are burning Audio CDs, I'd imagine you're not finalizing your CD
burns, and your home/auto players don't support non-finalized CDs:

Thanks for the response. I'm positive that it will be extremely helpful.
However, I can not seem to get to the link you supplied ending in #finalize.
I have been all through the second link and read the WMP FAQ and found where
it was adviced to finalize but no instructions on how to. It is an audio file
I am burning. File extension is .wav and it will play back on my computer.
I am sure I did not finalize it because I have never seen that prompt. I
burned it on a CD-R disc. Can it still be finalized? If so how? Or will I
need to burn a nother copy? Thanks again!

As noted at that link that you actually found vs what I poorly supplied, the
system burner can not finalize. If you're just trying to burn one track to
play on an older CD drive, you would need to use a 3rd party burner such as
Nero or Roxio, since those *do* allow the finalization that you need.

Default RE: audio file converting?

WELL ... I figured out that ROXIE was my Sonic Record Now ... so I checked it
out, as I had not ever used it before, and low and behold ... it had a
Finalize button. I did so, but to no avail. The CD players in my car and home
still will not play the disc. By that I mean ... the player recognizes the
disc and the counter runs as if it were playing ... but no sound. It even
shows the number of tracks! I am lost. This is very important to me and I
really appreciate any and all assistance. These are sermons recorded on a
digital voice recorder, transfered to my PC via USB to a program called
Digital Wave Player (the recorder and program are both by Oympus), according
to my Sonic Record Now and Windows Media Player 10 it is a Data File with the
file extension of ".wav" . I run XP Home. I burned them with Sonic Record
Now as a Data Project (it would not let me do it as an audio project), and
they have now been Finalized as well. Still no sound. We would really like to
get these sermons on disc for others in our church to be able to listen to. I
realize now that this is no longer a WMP issue, but figured I may as well put
this last post on here as it started here. PS ... I would never have known
about Finalizing or that I already had the Roxie soft wear if it were not for
Zachd. Thanks! Sorry its so long.

Well, hopefully they play back correctly on your Wave Player and in Sonic
Record Now and/or WMP. If not, that's the problem.

But you're saving as a data project... that won't work. You need to burn an
Audio CD and only an Audio CD. Roxio and Sonic Record Now should be
different things. I think you'll find Nero is probably a better choice here
for your specific task.

Yes, they play back fine on all of those. I will look into Nero. Thanks again.
