WMP v10. Win XP.
I have ripped a CD of 8 Schubert impromptus (8 tracks). The 8 show up as one entry in My Playlist as "Schubert Impromptus", and are playable. How to use this entry to also create Library entries in Album and Album Artist? Right now there is nothing in either category referring to the impromptus. I hope my question is clear enough. Thanks, Jack |

You can manually edit the track (right click: edit OR Advanced Tag editor) with the information you wish to add. See also http://msmvps.com/thinice/articles/15229.aspx for suggestions in organising classical music tracks. |

I already know how to edit the track info. I want to create one entry in Albums called "Schubert Impromptus - Uchida"; one in Album Artist called "Mitsuko Uchida" under which "Schubert Impromptus" will appear; and have "Impromptus - Uchida" appear in the Composer category "Schubert", which already has another Schubert item in it. If it's impossible to have those exact wordings, then something close. Jack |

So presumably you have typed (for each track) "Schubert Impromptus - Uchida" into the Album field, "Mitsuko Uchida" into the Album Artist field. You'll then have seen "Schubert Impromptus - Uchida" (the album name) appear under composer Schubert. BTW I strongly recommend getting a fortepiano version of these pieces, eg by Lambert Orkis. IMHO Schubert works a bit better there than on piano, similarly for the Piano Trios. |

Yes, I've done all that for all 8 tracks, but still the only mention of Schubert impromptus or Uchida is in the "Schubert Impromptus - Uchida" entry in My Playlists. When I ripped the disk some time ago, the album name, etc. may very well have appeared, and I inadvertently deleted them. My question, then, is about how to recreate them given what remains now, the entry in My Playlists. > BTW I strongly recommend getting a fortepiano version of these pieces, > eg by Lambert Orkis. But thanks for your opinion. Jack |

Without actually seeing your setup, I can only speculate that your library is corrupt. Are other tracks displaying OK under each tree (Album, Album artist etc)? > > When I ripped the disk some time ago, the album name, etc. may very well > have appeared, and I inadvertently deleted them. My question, then, is > about how to recreate them given what remains now, the entry in My > Playlists. The Playlists entry is static, and if it reflects prior ripped files then it may not reflect your current file updates. You'll have to make a new playlist. |
