Is it possible to have WMP as teh default on my side of the PC and ITunes as
the default on my daughters side?

If so, please could someone explain.

Tell iTunes not to associate to that programs, that is located in the
options section. You can should then open WMP10,or download WMP10, and tell
it to associate itself.

Personally I don't like iTunes tooooo memory hungry, it installs junk you
don't need and forces the program on you

I too don't like itunes, for many reasons ,but my daughter has an ipod so I
have to use itunes to upload for her don't I?

You could setup another Windows User account so iTunes will not effect you
as much.

As long as you have different user accounts.

It's not supported by any major player right now directly, but you can make
it work. Either you can use the shell Always Open With option or you can
manually work in regedit.exe to create the appropriate
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.ext,, ProgId association. The latter
option of course assumes a strong level of knowledge about the registry.
