Clicking an mpeg will open WMP and the taskbar says its playing, but nothing
is happening. Interestingly enough, I've tried playing them with RealPlayer, and that does exactly the same thing. What has happened to stop the computer recognising mpegs? All help gratefully received. |

Perhaps the problem is the mpegs you're trying to play.

That would make sense as it also happens when trying to play them using
RealPlayer.. I'm a teacher, I made these mpegs myself in the same way that I've always made them... only now, they don't work. Why would my computer now stop recognising mpegs? Did you recently install some media software that might have stomped on the existing MPEG decoders? -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Yes I may have done, I tried a media player recommened by a friend... I've
since deleted it. Do you know where I can get and re install mpeg decoders? I've already tried downloading and re installing media player (10). Many thanks! Well, it's built into DirectX, so it's not possible to individually reinstall them. You could install the latest version of DirectX if you don't already have it... -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
