Progressive download (i.e., play-while-downloading) of WAVs works on machine A
and does not work on machine B. Machine A configuration: WMP: 9.00.00.2980 MSIE: 6.0.2800.1106 WIN: Version 5.0 (build 2195; Service Pack 4) ( "Windows 2000") Machine B configuration: WMP: 10.00.00.3646 MSIE: 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 WIN: Version 5.1 (build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 : Service Pack 2) ("Windows XP") On machine B, the entire file is downloaded before playback starts. Media player is embedded as an ActiveX component in a web page. The WAV file is generated by a HTTP server running on machine A, it contains PCM data (wFormatTag=1) and is sent as "Content-Type: audio/x-wav". WMP10 SDK page lists WAV among the formats which "can be downloaded and played simultaneously". Any idea what the reason of this problem could be? Thanks for any help! |

I also tried de- and re-associating the WAV filetype with WMP,
but it didn't help. I even tried to de-associate the WAV filetype, reboot the computer, then associate it again, and reboot....didn't help either |

Associations won't affect an embedded type. Embedded types are forced by the very embedding to be handled by a specific player. -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
