When I try to set up an auto playlist to play all thge songs from a certain
artist... some of the artists show up on a list but but more then 75% of the list does not show up. Why? this is on the "click to set" link from the Edit Auto Playlist dialog box, where I have "album artist contains " as one of the added criteria to select music from my library. It seems that if WMP recognizes artists when you select a "folder" for that artist and can see seperate CDs from that artist, shouldn't the playlist see "all" of the folders for artists? -- Regards, John |

Folders are based on "Album Artist", which is a separate field to "Artist". There's a lot of confusion in the way that WMP works with these two. See http://msmvps.com/thinice/articles/15229.aspx |

I tried the "Contributing Artist" selection for the auto playlist and all 109
Artists appeared on that list (so I have a workaround)... I can see how the whole Artist album, contributing artist, composer thing could be confusing. The "Artist album" selection only shows 15 "artists" the albums are like sub-entries when you (+)expand the "Artist album" folder. I counted both the sub-folder enties for "Artist album" and "Contributing Artist" and I get 109 for both. So what is effecting the "Artist album" autoplay feature? my entire library structure has been created using VBA from excel with links to the WMP object model. (long story as to why that was needed) But, If the folder structure for "Artist album" only showed 15 entries like the autyplay list does, I would think that when I defined the artist that I used the property for the wrong item... but both Artist album and contributing artist have the exact same entries. Any idea how this could be happening? I double checked my "composer" folder... most of mine are all lumped into unknown, which makes sense, because i didn't set the composer property when I converted my files into WMP. -- Regards, John "Mike Williams" wrote: > John Keith wrote: > > When I try to set up an auto playlist to play all thge songs from a certain > > artist... some of the artists show up on a list but but more then 75% of the > > list does not show up.
