AutoMatters,
I have the same problem. Did you find out how to fix it? Believe it or not, yours is the only reply that I received. I guess that not
too many people read this forum. Oh well, I suggest getting another program. I have been busy and not done so yet. "umboppa" wrote: > AutoMatters, > > I have the same problem. This page tells us what this file is for (no, I realise it's not much
help) : http://www.processlist.com/info/atl70.html There's a support document listed here which also has lots of detail but mostly in gibberesh computergeek speak : http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=kb;en;201191 So my suggestion is (1) Assume the file's already somewhere on your system. (2) Assume it just doesn't know about it (3) tell the sytem to 'register' or use the ATL70.dll file. You could try this : Go the start menu Choose the "Run" options In the box type in regsvr32 atl70.dll Press enter - you should see a popup say "register of atl70.dll succeeded". Then try it again using regsvr32 atl.dll If not, I'd try the following : Search in windows explorer for the atl70.dll file - it should be in a backup folder somewhere on your computer. If it's not found in C:/windows/System32 directory : Do a Copy and Paste of the file into the C:/Windows/System32 directory (you may have to show all files to do this as the windows files are usually hidden). The repeat the regsvr step above. Finally, try out the install again and see if it works now. I too have the problem, on two different computers, all running XP.
None of your fixes worked for me. I have loaded Media Player 10, several times. I have tried the download several times and I have searched the computer for the dll file and Microsoft knowlege base too. This sucks! Can it be that Microsoft really doesn't want people to write MP3 files? .... ? You do realize that if atl70.dll isn't on your system, there's no way to fix this error, right? Installing WMP any number of times won't do anything because WMP is ATL3-reliant, not ATL7. The Plus! Audio Converter you're using uses ATL7, which is what the Plus! team decided to go with. WMP didn't have anything to do with that, and your question/problem is a great one for the Plus! support team. Please take it there so they're aware of it. -Zach -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. I just checked out the Plus! Digital Media Edition 1.1 package on disk here, and it does show atl70.dll in the "system32" folder. So it should have been installed. Again, I would take this to the Plus! newsgroup, but it may also be worthwhile to reinstall Plus! under the assumption that some moronic(?) application removed atl70.dll via not paying to file refcounting. -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
